I have read all of the author’s books and I think this is some of his best work. The imagery is vivid, the characters believable and likable. The story is a roller coaster ride of cop drama, funny scenes, heartbreak and some rather disturbing imagery. There is a lot of action here. The main character is flawed and complex. Little by little, you experience his fascinating and surprising evolution on so many levels (physical/mental/moral/spiritual). What begins as a gritty police story slowly takes you down a rabbit hole of mystery that is peeled back further and further until you realize nothing at all is what it seems. The final chapter will make you question everything you ever knew. A very unique work. Highly recommended.
